Wholesale Client Onboarding Lead (VP)

The Wholesale On-Boarding team partners with the front office team of JP Morgan to provide a customer centered KYC experience with a focus on expediting client engagement and service. Wholesale Client On-Boarding (WCOB) is a global team with a major presence in locations such as New York, Chicago, Tampa, London, Bournemouth, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangalore and Mumbai. The team collaborates with Bankers, Sales, Operations, Credit, Legal and Compliance to provide a comprehensive streamlined onboarding process for our clients.

Introduction to Role

The WCOB team supports all aspects of client Onboarding to include the fulfilment of Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) requirements. They partner with the front office teams to ensure all client KYC records are compliant with regulatory standards, and will ensure high quality and timely completion of all client-level due diligence requirements at the onset of the client relationship. The WCOB Team will validate client information, conduct Enhance and Specialized Due Diligence as well as request supporting evidence for OFAC/Sanctions screening, negative media cases and will confirm the AML risk rating and required due diligence at a client level prior to record submission for Quality Control review. They are expected to stay current with all regulatory changes and requirements around client KYC, Suitability and Documentation, as well as any product or account opening procedural and due diligence requirements.

The WCOB lead VP will:

  • Manage a team of KYC Analysts

  • Partner closely with Global Compliance to understand in depth global AML and KYC policies.

  • Ensure consistent translation of these policies into operational procedures and technology.

  • Partner closely with regional KYC and WCOB specialists and technologists to ensure implementation of operational procedures and technology.

  • Coordinate quality assurance samplings across regions to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.

  • Create training strategy in partnership with WCOB Training for new and existing staff members.Ensure that the plan requires proficiency and expertise development throughout the tenure of the staff member.

  • Regularly review the end to end control environment to ensure that all control gaps have been identified and appropriate action plans have been established.

  • Ensure that the appropriate KPIs have been established to highlight operational issues that need to be addressed.

  • Provide project management discipline to global remediation efforts, ensuring adequate reporting exists, key stakeholders are appropriately engaged, results are correct, and documentation is in proper order for future Audits/Examinations.

  • Act as the primary local point of contact for Audits and Examinations.

  • Manage process improvement implementations and operating model changes.

Skill and Experience Requirements:

  • At least 10+ years experience delivering results

  • AML/KYC subject matter experience

  • Project management and Process improvement experience

  • Analytical and control mindset

  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility

  • Multi-tasker who can manage multiple streams of work concurrently

  • Adaptable, flexible and willing to work in a dynamic environment

  • Relationship management, especially with Senior Management based in primary location’s
