JPMorgan Chase BI Specialist SME (SSIS / SSAS)- Technology Controls in Jersey City, New Jersey

The EAA BI Specialist works within the Technology Controls Global I&AM Metrics and Analytics Team to ensure that data is available to the report developers on the team so they are able to produce the weekly, monthly and annual reports as expected. The candidate will be responsible for creating and monitoring ETL processes from multiple disparate data sources, build SSAS cubes and implement data quality checks to ensure the completeness of the data in the data mart. The candidate will also assist the team with workload prioritization and scheduling.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop & demonstrate deep understanding of systems & processes in order to extract insights from existing data while identifying & recommending source system enhancements to improve data quality

  • Extract & load new data sources into SQL data mart environments using primarily the Microsoft SSIS toolset, ensuring that strong data quality controls are in place

  • Design and build Microsoft SSAS cubes using the Kimball techniques for efficiency

  • Define, monitor & report key business metrics; implement & manage various reporting processes & dashboards using primarily SSAS, Tableau, &/or Qlikview toolsets

  • Participate in team workload prioritization and scheduling sessions

  • Meet with clients to gather requirements and document backlog stories

  • Populate existing report templates weekly/monthly and quality-check prior to submission.

  • Develop / extend reports based on data available in data mart. Identify any missing data for future inclusion.

  • Deliver high quality firmwide technology solutions with a focus on innovation and stability

  • Maintain a client/customer focus by investing in relationships and improve collaboration with a “one team” mentality

  • Communicate effectively and build a shared understanding

  • Understand risk and contribute to an effective and efficient control environment


  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience within MIS, Business Intelligence, &/or Analytics roles; must have expert-level, demonstrated knowledge of one or more data & business intelligence concepts including ETL, Data Modeling, SQL Query Development & Reporting Automation

  • Proven experience delivering high quality SSAS cubes that utilize Kimball techniques

  • Self-starter; demonstrate ability to complete assigned tasks independently with minimum supervision

  • Team player, excellent written & oral communications skills, project management & client partnership ability

  • Expert-level ability expected in SQL query writing. Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Pivot Tables, Access, VBA & PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data warehousing concepts & exposure to one or more Business Intelligence toolsets & database platforms: SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Analysis Services (SSAS). Experience with Tableau, Qlikview a great plus

  • Ability to work well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise

  • Problem Solving: must possess strong analytical ability. Probing, judgment & problem analysis techniques. Should possess & demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the business unit’s functions & applications. Excellent knowledge of system technology alternatives

  • Demonstrate initiative / good judgment in decision making; taking appropriate actions on databases / products according to established standards & best practices with minimal assistance; communicates, collaborates, engages, escalates & educates stakeholders as appropriate
