The Private Equity Group (“PEG”) of J.P. Morgan Asset Management is one of the most successful and long-standing global private equity programs in the industry. The PEG manages approximately USD $24 billion of assets on behalf of a diverse group of leading global institutions and individual investors. The team consists of 47 investment professionals operating from offices in Hong Kong, New York, London and New Delhi. The investment program includes direct, secondary and primary investment opportunities across all private markets, including venture capital, growth equity, buyout/corporate finance, private debt, energy/real assets and real estate/infrastructure. Investments are made on a global basis.

The Position

We are seeking an Executive Director or Managing Director for the PEG’s New York office. Primary responsibility is to serve as a Portfolio Manager for direct private equity investments with additional responsibility for primary and secondary opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Source and lead direct investments, primary partnership investments and secondary transactions.

  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence

  • Prepare and write investment memoranda and investment recommendations

  • Negotiate terms and conditions

  • Represent/sponsor investments with members of the PEG as well as review investments with clients and prospects

  • Analysis of company performance, market size and fit, management teams, financial statements, financial models, industry research, etc.

  • Represent the PEG in the private equity industry including board representation at investment company level

  • Undergraduate degree; MBA or CFA preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of private equity investment experience, 10 years of relevant industry experience and experience in direct private company investing is required

  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to review and articulate investments with clients

  • Willingness to work effectively in a team environment

  • Expectation for candidate to grow within the PEG and accept greater investment and client responsibilities
