Reporting to the Data Management and Operations (DMO) Team Manager for JPMIS Data Operations, the DMO - ETL/Hadoop/Java Developer is responsible for executing the growth strategy of JPMIS by expanding key data assets with both internal firm resources as well as external data. The candidate to be results-driven with a passion for transforming large disparate data sets into actionable information. This person will be an integral part of building a best-in-class data management and governance framework leveraging Big Data technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong data mining and analytical skills, along with exceptional relationship management skills and commitment to delivering high quality solutions.
The ideal candidate for this position is results-driven with The candidates for this role must be willing to push the limits of traditional development paradigms typically found in a data-centric organization while embracing the opportunity to gain subject matter expertise in a variety of data assets ranging from financial to digital/mobile.
Work on variety of projects with very diverse needs. For example
Develop next-generation Big Data management frameworks and backend services
Build and implement front-end web applications and back-end services that integrate with other products.
Develop advance ETL solutions using variety of ETL tools for Big Data Environments
Develop high-performance processing and analytics applications using Spark
Interact with clients both within JPMIS and across the firm (including counterparts in Retail & Wholesale Banking, Risk, Digital/Mobile)
Validate requirements and system design
Automate and streamline existing processes, procedures, and toolsets
Ensure code paths are unit tested and defect free
Participate in full integration testing
Rapidly address issues and fix defects discovered during deployment
Effectively partner with the Data Insights team to drive usage and improvement of the IntelliStor data asset that drives analytics within JPMIS and for our strategic partners
Innovate new ways of managing, transforming and validating data
Establish and enforce guidelines to ensure consistency, quality and completeness of all JPMIS data assets

Financial Services background or experience preferred across different LOBs. (Consumer, Commercial, Asset Management & CIB)
Exceptional knowledge of the software development life cycle, especially in the analysis of software design, code development and its application to testing
Proven proficiency with data and quantitative research techniques
Proficiency across the full range of database and business intelligence tools; publishing and presenting information in an engaging way
Intensive, recent experience in assessing and sourcing data needs
Detail oriented with a commitment to innovation
Consistently evaluates decisions in terms of impact to the business
Uncovers hidden opportunities in disparate data and translates them into actionable information
Technical expertise regarding data management frameworks and ETL solutions
Technical expertise regarding data models and database design development
Experience with SQL, ETL frameworks and data visualization tools
5+ years’ Experience in Big Data technologies and utilities (Hadoop, Spark SQL, Hive, Impala, Pig, Kafka) is required.
3 years’ experience with MPP databases like Greenplum, Neteza is preferred. Ability to troubleshoot issues and develop functions in an MPP environment is highly desired.
3 Experience utilizing and extending ETL solutions (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, Ab Initio) in a complex, high-volume data environment is highly desired
3+ years of SQL experience and ETL development is required
Strong Java, Python and/or other functional programming skills
Working hands-on experience with scheduling & data integration tools like Control-M and Ni-Fi is highly desired.
Sound understanding of continuous integration & continuous deployment environments
Solid understanding of application program interfaces (APIs), messaging software and interoperability techniques and standards
Strong analytical skills with a passion for testing
Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
Team collaboration maintaining exceptional code, architecture and documentation
Strong exposure in Data Management, Governance and Controls functions
Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields desired
Overall 8 – 12 years of experience
