The Firmwide Chief Data Office (CDO) and the Firmwide Data Management (FDM) Leadership Team is responsible for the Firmwide Data Management framework, Data Integration Strategy, Data Network Architecture focused on data lineage, data quality management, Reference Data Operations as well as overall data governance, oversight and operational support for the Firmwide Data Glossary (aka DataBook).
The individual will be part of the Firmwide CDO team responsible for the Firmwide DQ Issue Management (Issue Capture and Resolution).
The Chief Data Office is currently undergoing a full rethink of mission/strategy/scope, and the individual will have a great opportunity to support the Firmwide Head of Data Quality in defining and driving a cutting edge Data Quality program that advances the quality of our data and delivers measurable business results.
The DQ team manages a Firm-wide Data Quality Issue remediation effort and also participate in setting the policies and procedures for the strategic management of data quality issues. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with both Data Consumers (Finance, Risk, Treasury) and Data Providers (LOB Operations, Technology and Business groups) gaining expertise in various product groups expanding the team member’s knowledge and network. The key responsibilities of the role include DQ Issue capture and Issue remediation. In this the individual will partner closely with Function and LOB DQ Issue capture and remediation teams. The expectation is that the individual will be able to work across functions and LOBs at a senior level to ensure that there is effective utilization of the resources available leading to a tangible progress in reduction of DQ Issues. The individual will need to further develop capabilities on tracking resolution of the issues, prioritizing issues, proactively highlighting cross dependency on issues, and working with the LOBs & the central functions to ensure effective planning can be completed; including but not limited to the T&O annual planning cycles. The role will require close connection with the CDO organizations across the firm.
The successful individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record of execution of change and the ability to work across multiple groups influencing senior members of these groups to ensure compliance with the enterprise wide agenda. The individual will need to be able to work collaboratively yet be assertive when faced with inevitable LOB or functional nuances. The position requires a confident communicator who can summarize and highlight key elements of issues into language able to be understood across multiple different functions and levels in the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems
MBA or related graduate level degree preferred
5 to 8 years experience in enterprise data management at a major financial institution
Strong interest in Data Management, Data Visualization and Reporting toolsets
Experience in Informatica, Abinitio or equivalent Data Profiling tools with familiarity with modern data visualization toolsets
Big Data awareness with experience of Structured and Unstructured data set management
Background in one or more functional areas including risk, finance, compliance, retail, markets, wealth management and asset management, commercial, and insurance.
Ability to structure communication to various different levels (e.g. seniority) and types (e.g. Technology, Operations, Finance) of audience
Proven ability to coordinate across functional teams of IT professionals, business executives, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives
Exposure to Product Owner and Agile methodologies
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Able to influence diverse stakeholder groups
