As a part of the CCB Production Management team, the Software Engineer is responsible for 24 x 7 incident coverage performing troubleshooting, ticket updates, escalation, resolution and reporting of incidents for our production environments and drive several application and infrastructure related changes and events cross impacting the product. In support of incident management, you will employ your troubleshooting and SQL skills regularly as you work closely with other technology groups including Development, Data Base Administration, Quality Assurance (QA), Infrastructure (Networking, Systems and Storage, Build and Deploy, and Operations) as well as CAS (Client Application Support) which communicates directly with our customers.
The technology environment is a multi-tiered web-based environment using Advanced Java, Tomcat and Oracle on Linux operating system. Our technology environments consist of: development/integration, quality assurance (QA), User Acceptance Training (UAT), performance, and production. The monitoring systems include Wily, Splunk, Dynatrace, Geneos and other custom developed monitoring software.
Additional responsibilities include driving our aggressive transformation agenda that reshapes our production management capabilities in support of Agile, DevOps and Cloud. This position is also responsible for Production Monitoring expertise and implementing automation components including tools, platforms, process, and policies. The role leverages the target operating model to implement a detailed vision for the Production Management organization, driving how we adapt to Agile delivery and how we support applications in Cloud environments. This position requires a high degree of interaction and partnership with cross-functional and cross-LoB teams (Integration team, Application Development, Product, and GTI and Shared services teams) in order to define and implement the target state, leveraging best practices and tools, and implementing standards and practices that are efficient and consistent with CCB and Global Technology goals.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience or specialized training) in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, or related discipline.
5-8 years of experience in large-scale, n-tiered distributed and high-availability environment
Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, engineering and agile software development
Motivated to work in a high pressure, dynamic operations environment
Strong working knowledge and vision of orchestration, monitoring, automation and instrumentation solutions
Minimum of 3 years relevant Production Support and incident management experience with significant exposure of handling ‘severity one’ incidents.
Ability to troubleshoot problems involving business and domain logic and quickly master the business workflow and the criticality of the product with little oversight.
Minimum of 3 years of experience support Java based applications which includes troubleshooting of Java exceptions, identifying bugs, understanding integrated business logics, concept of multithreaded operations, understanding of JVM operations and memory usages.
Strong understanding of writing and analyzing SQL queries (ORACLE/SQL Servers)is required with skillset of performance optimization and session monitoring
Ability to work weekend on call rotations required.
Experience using Batch processing tools such as Control-M and troubleshooting skills of batch failure are required.
Experience with writing scripts and/or workflows to automate routine product management admin tasks SHELL, PERL and/or PYTHON
Experience with vendor provided APIs
Experience with Jira/Confluence/Kanban or similar project management tools and version control software.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Wily, Splunk, Dynatrace and Geneos
ITIL knowledge or certification is a plus.
Experience in ETL software like DataStage is a plus.
