JPMorgan Chase CIB – CDM Rates Sales – Analyst in Chicago, Illinois


Within JPMorgan’s cross-asset Corporate Derivatives Marketing group, the Fixed Income Derivative Sales team identifies, presents and executes interest rate hedging solutions for the firm’s corporate clients.

The successful candidate will join the team in Chicago as an Analyst, supporting the team’s marketing efforts to clients. The role will work closely with senior marketers, relationship managers and clients to source and deliver hedge strategies that help clients efficiently manage interest rate risk.

Daily tasks include: (i) developing and maintaining marketing materials, (ii) presenting creative solutions to corporate treasury professionals by phone and in person, (iii) following fast-evolving market conditions and translating the impact for client exposures (iv) coordinating transaction execution and requisite follow-up, including closing and booking trades and ensuring accuracy of trade documentation and (v) seeking to constantly improve internal processes and client experience.

The candidate must have: (i) excellent communication and sales skills, (ii) creative problem solving abilities (iii) a solid understanding of fixed income markets and corporate finance / related debt analysis and (iv) a strong desire to both learn from and teach others.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Follow economic data releases and discuss the market impact with clients

  • Model interest rate derivatives with various trading desks and execute trades

  • Work closely with other asset class teams to promote cross selling across the firm

  • Back up colleagues and work together as a team

  • Work with mid-office and sales assistants to ensure that trades are captured and confirmed in a timely fashion

  • Analyze credit risk of various client trades and coordinate with the firm's credit, legal, compliance, and operations teams

  • Read and understand JPM’s fixed income strategy to leverage our research ideas

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial concepts into simple terms and actionable steps

  • Quantitative skills - must be comfortable with Excel and able to quickly come up to speed on various derivative and credit models

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Excellent presentation skills and understanding of the sales process

  • Debt, foreign exchange, equity or commodity market experience is a plus; corporate finance and accounting background is also useful

  • Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced, team-based environment

  • Knowledge of derivatives and/or structured product

  • Superior time management and multi-tasking skills to balance live transactions and daily tasks

  • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with expert knowledge of Excel (VB, macros) and/or programming languages
