JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking Global Financial Crimes Compliance Associate in Chicago, Illinois

The Commercial Banking Global Financial Crimes Compliance team (CB GFCC) supports the Commercial Banking business in complying with laws and regulations to prevent financial crimes, such as anti-money laundering and sanctions laws. CB includes several different sub-lines of business which include Corporate Client Banking, Middle Market Banking, Credit Markets (Chase Business Credit, Chase Capital, Chase Equipment Finance), Real Estate Banking, Commercial Term Lending, Community Development Banking, in addition to the Government Banking and Health Care, Higher Education and Not-For-Profit Banking ("GHHN"). These business lines serve both private and public clients with $20MM - $2B in annual revenue.

The Anti-Money Laundering ("AML") Global Financial Crimes Compliance team supporting CB seeks a highly motivated, team oriented Compliance Officer. The position will report to a Compliance Manager and will focus on maintaining the due diligence programs and performing analysis and follow-up on clients that present AML and/or reputational risk. The position will also include supporting other projects and initiatives related to AML, the Bank Secrecy Act ("BSA") and the USA Patriot Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Risk Assessment and Risk Mitigation:

  • Support the business in reviewing, analyzing and performing risk assessments on CB high risk client types such as Money Services Businesses ("MSBs"), PEPs, Casinos and Third Party Payment Processors.

  • Research, analyze and determine risk mitigation steps for clients that present AML and/or reputation risk.

  • Interface with CB bankers, relationship managers and KYC Officers to obtain explanations related to client negative media and/or suspicious transactional activity.

  • Participate in high risk client reviews, new product reviews, PEP and negative media analysis.

  • Know Your Customer Advisory:

  • Ensure Know Your Customer documentation is complete and current.

  • Following-up and escalate past due items.

  • Provide advice to the business on all aspects of U.S. KYC requirements, including beneficial ownership and CIP requirements, JPMC Standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • AML/BSA Projects and Committees:

  • Assist the CB GFCC team with various AML/BSA projects for the LOB.

  • Participate in Corporate GFCC projects, as a representative for CB GFCC.

  • Prepare reports for CB GFCC management on projects and initiatives.

  • Represent CB GFCC at various Compliance and Business owned working groups and committees.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist certification strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Compliance, Risk Management; Audit or related position.

  • Working knowledge of AML, BSA, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulatory requirements.

  • Familiarity with AML and BSA requirements for higher risk customer types such as MSBs, FX companies, Casinos, and Third Party Payment Processors.

  • Knowledge of banking systems and products.

  • Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to present information in a concise and effective manner to management.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
