JPMorgan Chase Business Analyst II - Home Lending (MIS Data Management) in Columbus, Ohio

This position manages the day to day activities for a highly visible and critical division of MIS Data Management with in the SBO Operations team. This encompasses ensuring that the assets of the Corporation are safeguarded, ensuring compliance and adherence to corporate guidelines, and minimizing risk in the Master Servicing area. Primary responsibilities will be focused on efficiency through automation utilizing vendor relationships and/or existing software.

The Sub & Master Servicing Dept. is responsible for the supervision of primary servicers and the administration of mortgage-backed securities and portfolio owned loans, including mortgage loan default management, servicer accounting and reconciliation, trust and investor cash management, contract administration, management reporting and portfolio analytics, distribution calculations and investor reporting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design applications or enhancements for the end-users to meet business needs.Build end-user tools (i.e.: databases) utilizing Oracle, TOAD and MS Access.

  • Utilize coding languages such as Visual Basic and SQL along with standard coding practices (including department documentation) in the development of user tools.

  • Work with Application Development to troubleshoot development and production issues, maintain security levels and manage the flow between regions throughout the development process.

  • Implement new user tools into production while also providing technical assistance, live demonstrations and additional training to end-users

  • Collaborate with management to ensure that projects meet all applicable government regulations and compliance standards.

  • Communicate w/ project stakeholders on project deliverables, assist in the flow of information, and coordinate meetings

  • Identify potential issues or areas of opportunities for future process improvement projects

  • Analyze data in determining issue identification, impact to business, and estimating workload/cost

  • Gather technical requirements and draft designs (if applicable) to clearly define issues, assumptions, goal of the project, etc

  • Collaborate and coordinate on the project development with PM, SMEs, etc to deliver the proper product/service

  • Create instructional guides with the DBAs and SME's for future training use and documentation of the development design and logic for SSO administration

  • Assist the business in developing procedures for proper documentation of the project/ process

  • Collaborate with management to ensure that projects meet all applicable government regulations and compliance standards.

  • Determine new designs to resolve issues to meet end user needs

  • Maintenance of all Private Reporting owned user tools

  • Analyze issues and enhancements with the end-users for the appropriate course of action

  • Educate and provide assistance to end users with any changes or enhancements made to databases or programs

  • Break fix of area databases and applications

  • Conduct testing for release project and other special application projects that affect Private Investor Reporting or its products

  • Test completed user tools with SME's and process stakeholders for issue resolution or approval for implementation

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or 4 years equivalent business experience

  • Expert level experience with all core Microsoft Office Applications

  • Experience with SQL

  • Understanding of technical architecture and coding (i.e. SQL, VBA)

  • Utilization of data extraction programs such as TOAD

  • Proficient and able to perform complex technical tasks using business applications, including MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Access preferred.

  • Must work very independently and be able to make tough decisions within the general framework of corporate, regulatory and investor policies.

  • Mortgage banking or master servicing environment helpful but not required

  • Solid understanding of audit and control processes helpful
