The Performance Consulting organization is responsible for leading critical, strategic efforts throughout the business with the ultimate goal of improving both operating and financial performance. The Operations Research and Data Science (ORDS) organization , which is part of Performance Consulting, leads and executes transformational data science and machine learning projects in Operations across Consumer and Community Banking.

The Data Science and Modeling Director is responsible for building, leading and managing a world-class Data Science and Modeling organization. This team is responsible for delivering deep insights and developing advanced analytical models using a variety of statistical and machine learning methods, algorithms and techniques. This position is a critical leadership role, helping shape the strategy and deployment of the ORDS organization. Responsibilities :

  • Build, manage and lead a world-class data science and modeling organization

  • Generate actionable insights by applying a variety of advanced quantitative and statistical methods to large datasets

  • Evaluate the current environment and identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics within CCB Operations, with a specific focus on game-changing, strategic programs

  • Provide project oversight, direct management and coaching to employees, fostering a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment with a focus on continuous learning

  • Develop presentations to summarize and communicate key messages to senior management sponsors and colleagues

  • Implement standardized practices and methods to increase team efficiency and ensure the quality and consistency of the output

Experience :

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline

  • 5+ years experience managing a large team of statisticians, data scientists or modelers, preferably in a large corporate or financial services environment; exceptional management and leadership skills

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building advanced statistical models and applying machine learning techniques to generate actionable insights from large data

  • 8+ years experience working in big data environments with large scale systems and terabytes of data

  • Proven ability to strategically manage complex, highly-visible analytical projects from concept through implementation

  • Experience migrating statistical models into production environments and/or integrating advanced analytics into production processes

Outstanding technical skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of statistics, computer science and programming

  • Expert-level abilities in SAS, SQL, Python

  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, time series forecasting and optimization algorithms

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage all facets of the analytical project lifecycle (data exploration, hypothesis testing, code development, testing/validation, model deployment, etc.)

  • Proven experience leveraging job automation applications and environments (e.g., CRON, Control-M, etc.)
