JPMorgan Chase Infrastructure Project Manager in Columbus, Ohio

This Infrastructure Project Management role is focused primarily on managing large projects based on multiple technologies. This is an associate role involved in the different stages of the success of a project manager, including: the funding, planning, scheduling, implementation and tracking process.

You will be driving the delivery of projects across all services working closely with your project team, resource managers across all regions and multiple GTI & LOB technology teams while interfacing with senior managers and stakeholders in the organization. This individual requires broad business process experience, relationship building and client management skills. Strong leadership, excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to remain calm and perform under pressure are necessary for success.

The Project Manager will also be required to manage complex engineering projects based on evolving technologies and will coordinate & monitor the scheduling, pricing and technical performance of engineering projects. The project manager must ensure adherence to master plans and schedules and develop solutions to project problems. All projects should be completed on-time and within budget, driving project management and financial rigor to ensure planning is realistic while also supporting strategic objectives and timing. The project manager should act as an advisor to the wider project management team regarding projects, tasks and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running complex projects

  • Ensure all projects are delivered with high quality, on scope, on time and on budget

  • Provide governance and controls to all project financials to include developing business cases, forecasting, understanding Profit & Loss, depreciation, etc.

  • Keep all projects on track, escalating decisions to executive sponsors as necessary

  • Organize the design and development of the Project Plan

  • Ensure risk management strategies are followed and reviewed within guidelines

  • Plan and set project goals and milestones based on approve Statement of Work, Infrastructure Design Documents, etc.

  • Oversee completion of requirements documentation

  • Identify and secure resources including project team, vendors and consultants

  • Detect and solve project issues effectively

  • Supervise the project management team

  • Ensure proper project management standards are applied

  • Act as the communications conduit to executive sponsor & project stakeholders

  • Conduct regularly scheduled briefings/status updates

  • Serve as single point of contact for project level issues / questions / escalations

  • Prepare and/or provide project reporting, metrics, scorecards, etc.

  • Lead technical projects from initiation through implementation

  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify project inter-dependencies that may influence project success

  • Support team in distributing project information to executive management and key stakeholders

  • Create an environment that breeds trust and collaboration with others

  • Exhibit a strategic business focus with a customer-focused perspective

  • Recognize areas for internal improvement and develop plans for implementing them

  • Ensure compliance with firm standards and procedures

  • Develop budget and manage project financials including Business Case completion

  • Evaluate the impact to Total Cost of Ownership for multiple, simultaneous, complex projects

Work Experience

  • 5 years’ IT Project Management experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions

  • Extensive experience in managing projects through all phases of the project life cycle and expert working knowledge of an industry recognized Project Management methodology

  • Strong knowledge of industry standard project management tools for financial and project reporting (i.e., Clarity, Beeline, Microsoft Project)

  • Knowledge of technologies, systems, drivers and trends in global investment banking environments backed by a solid understanding of banking industry fundamentals

  • Awareness of Agile Project Management techniques would be beneficial

  • An understanding line of business technology drivers is preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding of banking regulatory, compliance, risk and security aspects

  • Proven experience managing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups

  • Extensive experience with multi-million dollar projects in a large, complex environment

  • Proven experience at delivering high quality projects on time and within budget

  • Extensive experience at presenting metrics to key stakeholders

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills across functions and teams, up and down the chain of command

  • Listening and gathering customer/user inputs

  • Simplifying complex topics for non-technical audiences and preparing quick pointed summaries for executives and stakeholders

  • Ability to motivate Project teams

  • Strong leadership & good analytical skills

  • Proven negotiation & influencing skills

  • Strong stakeholder management & customer focus

  • Strong knowledge of IT environment and working with outside Service Providers/Vendors

Technical Skills

  • Management and escalation of underlying project Risks/Issue/Change

  • Subject matter expert in at least one Information Technology Infrastructure domain

  • Compliance to Risk Management and Cyber policies

  • Budget & Financial Management

  • Strong understanding of, and adherence to, Standard Project Lifecycle requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferably in the financial services industry

  • PMP, MSP, Six Sigma, or other formal project management discipline preferred; familiarity with SDLC and Agile delivery practices beneficial

  • Experience with Project Task Estimation, Resource Scheduling, Risk Management, and Issue Management

  • Collaborates effectively with peers & broader technology teams to ensure successful deliveries

  • Ability to listen, analyze, influence, negotiate and use judgment to solve complex issues in order to accomplish project goals
