Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services across the firm. GTI’s mission is to be a customer-centric software provider of consumable platforms, which will allow us to quickly scale agile practices, intensify our focus on customer value and help us deliver rapid improvements in functionality and quality.

GTI’s Enterprise Services, Core Services, Architecture and Software Development Practices (ECAS) team brings together the design and delivery of our shared products across our consumable product teams and the firm. The Enterprise Services team delivers our global data centers and manages our mainframe and midrange products, as well as managed file transfers. The Core Services team is responsible for identity, authentication, privileged access management (in partnership with Cybersecurity & Technology Controls), data and event-management services. The Strategy & Business Services, Architecture and Software Development Practices teams are responsible for accelerating our evolution into a software-based organization, creating the policies, tools and processes that our software development teams leverage.

ECAS is hiring a technical writer, who will report to the head of Information Design on the Strategy & Business Services team. The ideal candidate is a talented and resourceful technical writer to help communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role will involve tasks such as writing content for product fact sheets, strategy documents and SharePoint sites, as well as editing success stories and product-related articles for the company intranet.

  • Support GTI’s Enterprise Services, Core Services, Architecture and Software Development Practices team, ensuring a consistent brand and message is conveyed

  • Take complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text

  • Deliver high-quality documentation, paying close attention to detail

  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities

  • Maintain department communication processes, standards and guidelines to ensure consistency, establish quality benchmarks and produce optimal communications content across all teams

  • Ensure communications adhere to internal brand and style guidelines

  • Take ownership of the communications process from end to end, including connecting dots with other initiatives and determining the best communications approach

  • Take on additional duties as assigned

  • Solid experience as a writer, proofreader and copy editor, preferably in the technology sector; must provide writing and editing samples

  • Firm understanding of The Associated Press Stylebook

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, technical writing or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Great team player with a high degree of flexibility, creativity and sense of humor; ability to work independently as well as with a team, with or without direction

  • Strong relationship-management skills and ability to work on cross-functional and cross-national teams

  • Strong communication, critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects at once

  • Five + years experience preferred

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Confluence

  • Experience editing in or organizing visual content in Adobe InDesign a plus

  • Strong project-management skills, including the ability to manage schedules and deadlines for multiple projects
