JPMorgan Chase Associate-Engineer in Houston, Texas

Duties: Perform systems management functions covering technical design and integration for new applications to include engineering design, web server routing, authentication setup, application configuration, entitlements policy authoring using XACML, and legal and compliance coordination. Create and maintain infrastructure and performance engineering documentation in sharepoint, including design of sharepoint pages. Determine usage profile, elasticity and scalability requirements of migrating core platforms to Cloud from physical platforms. Coordinate with Tech Leads to determine and finalize plans for migration. Assist system engineering and development teams with deployment of their services and components to a cloud based runtime architecture using automation techniques including continuous delivery pipelines and non-manual testing. Design Apache routing and security configuration to deploy applications using git version control and automation tools. Actively monitor system performance and stability. Respond to alerts, perform analysis, troubleshoot, and escalate issues. Support relational database changes by designing queries, defining and executing steps to migrate data between systems with respect to protecting Personally Identifiable Information via masking or removing data, and deploying ETL transformations using tools such as Ab Initio. Design and monitor Splunk dashboards to identify anomalies with application performance and usage metrics. Define and implement additional automation opportunities using Java, Bash Shell, and scripting languages such as Perl. Participate in an on-call rotation for mission critical alerts.

Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience as an IT Consultant, Software Engineer, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with: Apache HTTP; Tomcat; Nagios; Wiley Introscope; and Splunk. This position requires two (2) years of experience with: Java; Oracle and SQL Server; MySQL or MariaDB; Linux and networking concepts such as identifying processes using specific ports on a machine, determining which processes are using which resources and recommending techniques on how to optimize those CPU, Memory, network resources on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system; Linux Bash Scripts and Perl; performance tuning Java/J2EE applications; and control procedures and techniques to comply with Global Financial Services regulations. This position requires one (1) year of experience with: designing Sharepoint and Confluence to maintain real time documentation and using Visio for software and network diagrams.
