JPMorgan Chase Software Governance Specialist in Houston, Texas

Corporate Technology is seeking a Software Czar.

The Corporate Technology (CT) organization develops applications and provides technology support for corporate functions across JPMorgan Chase, including Global Finance, Corporate Treasury, Risk Management, Workforce Technology, Compliance, Legal, and various functions within the Corporate Administrative Office (CAO).

A top priority is building scalable corporate systems. CT’s development teams address our corporate partners’ evolving technology needs while aligning to the firm’s expanding technology controls agenda.

Development teams focus on:

· Responding to the evolving regulatory environment and helping meet the firm’s regulatory commitments by addressing internal and external commitments

· Advancing the firm’s Roadmap programs – Single Sourcing of data, Architecture Convergence, and Rationalization of Platform Adopting industry leading technologies to support best-in-class business capabilities for high performance computing and data storage solutions

· Driving innovation across the firm’s corporate technology portfolio, increasing efficiencies through process automation, and Agile application development with an emphasis on user experience and shorter development cycles.

CT Architecture provides horizontal architecture services to Corporate Technology and contributes to the definition of firm wide architecture through participation in firm wide initiatives and the Global Technology Architecture Committee.

The Software Czar governs the use of unapproved and non-invest rated software, enforces firm wide policies to limit the number of new products introduced into Corporate Technology, and ensures that selected products are used in the “right” way.


  • Evaluate and decision requests to introduce new software into CT

  • Review and decision requests to use software that is not rated Invest

  • Evaluate and decision software expenditures ensuring alignment to Corporate Technology’s Roadmaps and Strategy

  • Provide support and guidance to the CT developer community in software-related issues and questions

  • Manage Software Product Lifecycles and communicate relevant information across Corporate Technology

  • Enforce Software Evergreen processes

  • Work with CT architects to create Product Strategy detailing preferred software products

  • Partner with other LOB Software Czars on standards and best practices

  • Assist other members of the CT Architecture team in data analysis

  • Provides governance, coordination and execution of proper controls

  • Interface with GTI SME’s, firm wide technology forums and LOB owned technologies

  • Manage ad-hoc requests

Required Qualifications

  • Understanding of SEAL, SEAL WorkFlow, and SEAL Lite, VERUM is ideal. The ability to represent CT in firm wide working groups on standards and best practices

  • Experience in business requirement analysis or application development

  • Above average Excel skills, including the ability to merge data from multiple sources, generate pivot tables, write complex formulas, and analyse large volumes of data

  • Experience in Excel macros and/or VBA is preferred

  • 10-15 years of hands-on IT experience with a successful track record in large enterprise environment across a wide range of technology functions.

  • 5+ years in technology controls and governance or related experience.

  • Deep understanding of GTIArchitecture and Services and experience working with different GTI organizations

  • Experience in modern technology infrastructure stack: Linux, Windows, Virtualization, Cloud

  • Expertise in technical product management and client engagement

  • Expertise with governance processes and metrics

  • Experience in vendor product acquisition and TPO process

  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem solving ability

  • Proven ability in developing relationships with stakeholders, communicating status, and understanding detailed business requirements across multiple project initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to negotiate, compromise and demonstrate diplomacy in sensitive situations and to interact effectively with peers and management

  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) and assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, Zoomtext), and proven track record of incorporating into your day-to-day work, is a plus but not required.
