JPMorgan Chase Commercial Bank Risk - Real Estate Appraisal Manager, VP in Irvine, California
The Real Estate Appraisal Manager will be responsible for managing a staff of review appraisers who engage and review external appraisals of all types of commercial property types with emphasis on the Real Estate Banking line of business. Experience in a broad geographic focus is needed as assignments occur throughout the entire US and Canada. The manager will supervise staff engaging 3rd party vendors to prepare appraisal reports on real property in connection with real estate related financial transactions. The manager will be responsible for a staff reviewing and analyzing appraisal reports for compliance with JPMC policies, federal and state regulations including FIRREA, and professional appraisal standards (USPAP), as well as determining the reasonableness of the value conclusion. Assignments will be moderate to complex and the coordination of multi-property portfolio assignments is not unusual. As part of the Appraisal Services Group (ASG), this position will be dedicated to the Real Estate Banking lending group that require real estate appraisals for secured lending. The role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory environment as it relates to real estate appraisal (i.e. JPMC policies, federal and state regulations including FIRREA, FDICIA, and professional appraisal standards (USPAP).
Skills: Strong analytical and writing ability. Strong oral communication and presentation skills are required. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, ARGUS and Appraisal Management software. Must be self-motivated and manage time efficiently to meet service level deadlines. Deep knowledge of local real estate areas and neighborhoods and good understanding of other markets served. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and environment. Broad financial market understanding including underwriting and credit concepts. Demonstrated understanding of information technology and operational concepts, including databases, data management and workflow management.
Experience: Requires a 4 year college degree, a State Certified General Appraiser License and a minimum 10 years’ experience appraising and/or reviewing appraisals of high-end commercial property types. Ability to analyze properties with extremely complex characteristics. Project and people management experience preferred. MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute or an equivalent advanced education is required.
