Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner.

GTI Sustained Engineering (SE) focuses on the end-to-end engineering and operations of our critical systems and products as well as production management activities, including incident, problem, change and crisis management processes, and asset lifecycle management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This role is for a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to join the existing team as a technical SME & Individual Contributor.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Build high available and resilient SQL Server database independently.

  • Configure Always on, SQL server cluster and database mirroring.

  • Troubleshoot runtime and configuration issues in SQL Server.

  • Define quality and security check parameters for enterprise level SQL server database.

  • Write and optimize T-SQL queries.

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for some of the group’s strategic objectives.

  • Represent the group in other internal Global Technology programs

The day to day activities of the role will encompass the full project lifecycle, including:

  • Delivering SQL server infrastructure to customer while meeting quality and timeline.

  • Interacting with DevOps and automation team to oversee the automated delivery workflow.

  • Interacting with other infrastructure teams such as compute, storage and backup to identify delivery bottleneck.

  • Working closely with Supply Chain group and understand the forecasting and data center capacity.

  • Improving service and driving customer satisfaction.

  • Managing day-to-day workload and projects.

  • Working with global team to deliver efficiently using follow the sun model.

  • Collaborating with the team and continuously improving quality parameters to reduce incidents.

  • Documenting runbooks in the shared Knowledge Base.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database infrastructure.

  • At least 4+ years of experience in installing, configuring and managing SQL Server in large scale infrastructure.

  • At least 2+ years of experience in SQL Server database optimization.

  • At least 4+ years of experience in setting up different HA and DR solution using SQL Server.

  • Experience of scripting language like Powershell or Python is an added advantage.

  • Experience of working within an ITIL framework

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must have a high degree of technical expertise/professional mastery to recommend process improvements

  • Highly motivated self-starter, comfortable taking initiatives

  • Experience in Agile software development lifecycle in a structured environment is a plus

  • Ability to deliver results, focus on customers, ownership and operations

  • Ability to manage dependencies, proactively anticipate and resolve issues

  • Ability to work under pressure whilst delivering results quickly and efficiently

  • Capable of working effectively within a distributed global development team.
