JPMorgan Chase Commercial Bank - Senior Credit Executive, Real Estate Banking (REB) – Northeast Region - MD in New York, New York

This position reports to the Chief Risk Officer – Real Estate Banking and is responsible for all credit and risk management in the Northeast Region of Real Estate Banking. This Senior Credit Executive advises on structure and approves a broad range of transactions for sophisticated real estate clients in Northeastern US. He/She makes decisions which have a major impact on the quality and profitability of the credit portfolio and is also responsible for ensuring that the credit portfolio is managed in accordance with internal policies and procedures and external regulatory and compliance requirements. He/She manages a team of risk professionals, from very senior to very junior. A senior credit executive is expected to provide input on policy and procedure development to the broader CRE risk organization.

Responsibilities

· Manage, develop and mentor a team of underwriters and analysts.

· Structure, underwrite, and approve a broad range of large and complex transactions.

· Proactively monitor the credit quality of the portfolio and make timely risk rating changes.

· Respond to questions and information requests from internal and external auditors and examiners.

· Ensure that the portfolio is managed to comply with risk policies and procedures and external regulatory requirements.

· Partner with the Northeast market manager to assess and manage risk while supporting business objectives.

· Manage an efficient process for underwriting and managing credit risk. Identify opportunities for improvement and lead change where needed.

· Keep abreast of industry and market dynamics and clearly articulate trends to senior management

Qualifications:

  • BA/BBA/BS/MBA and completion of a major corporate bank credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience) and possess a minimum of 20 years’ experience in banking/lending, which includes construction and term lending, corporate lending, derivatives, and treasury service products.

  • Demonstrated record of sound, independent credit judgment and institutional credibility.

  • Proven management experience, including demonstrated leadership skills and ability to coach and motivate a team of individuals who are at varying levels of development and experience.

  • Outstanding analytical, technical, problem-solving skills; significant understanding and working knowledge of structuring and legal issues related to secured and unsecured lending.

  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge/familiarity with commercial real estate markets and players in the northeastern United States, with emphasis on New York, Washington DC, and management that could impact the business and portfolio.
