The Firmwide Planning & Analysis Group (FP&A) provides analytics related to the Firm’s financial performance directly to JPMorgan Chase’s (JPMC) CFO to drive the Firm’s strategy and external guidance. FP&A resides within the Financial Analysis group, which is comprised of high profile teams reporting directly to the CFO.

FP&A is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating the Firmwide budgeting and forecasting process. The team analyzes projections of the Firm’s P&L, balance sheet, business drivers and capital over varying economic scenarios for the current year and a multi-year horizon.

Role &Responsibilities

The role will focus on analyzing P&L, balance sheet, business drivers and capital projections over varying economic scenarios across the entire Firm. The role offers the skills and knowledge for individuals who want to pursue a CFO track, and provides vast exposure to senior leaders.

The associate will be responsible for examining the financial performance for the current quarter/year and over a multi-year horizon through multiple lenses (e.g., by product, by business segment).

The associate will play a vital and accountable role in clearly articulating drivers of financial performance to senior management and in high profile forums including:

  • Weekly financial updates to Firm’s Controller

  • Monthly financial updates to the Board,Operating Committee and Regulators

  • Quarterly Earnings

  • Annual Investor Day

In addition to analyzing financial performance, the associate will use analytics to substantiate and support external guidance provided to investors specifically related to revenue, expenses, credit and long term earnings capacity. The associate will own and drive many of these analyses including:

  • Net Interest Income (NII) analytics includingRate / Mix / Volume attribution

  • Interest rate sensitivity scenarios

  • Net Interest Margin (NIM) analytics

  • Seasonality trends

  • Noninterest revenue (NIR) sensitivities

  • Product/LOB analytics

  • Earnings simulation

In this capacity, the associate will be required to learn the fundamental drivers of each LOB as well as critical corporate finance concepts. The associate will leverage and coordinate data and analytics provided by the Firm’s 4 major lines of business (LOB). He/she will need to coordinate and effectively communicate across multiple teams including LOB Planning & Analysis teams, Investor Relations, Corporate Finance Analytics and Corporate Treasury.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance,Economics, or related field

  • At least 5-6 yearsprofessional experience in handling large amount of data, analyzing P&L andBalance sheet drivers preferred

  • Very strong skills in financial analysis (knowledge ofmodeling/valuation preferred); and strong problem solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to comfortably interact with variousbusiness partners and senior management

  • Excellent Excel (look-ups and filtering) andPowerPoint skills. S/he will be able toquickly learn new software applications

  • Highly organized, detail oriented andproactive. Energetic and decisive, withhigh level of integrity

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pacedenvironment with frequently changing priorities and to meet deadlines underpressure

  • Experience with internal financial systems suchas Essbase and Hyperion preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication andrelationship management skills

  • Self-starter who is driven to excel in allaspects of their role and seeks to break the status-quo and initiateimprovements where necessary
