JPMorgan Chase Head of Portfolio Core Technology Asset Management (Senior ED) in New York, New York
Our Asset and Wealth Management division is driven by innovators like you who are driven to create technology solutions that make us work more efficiently and help our businesses grow. It's our mission to efficiently take care of our clients' wealth, helping them get, and remain properly invested. Across 27 cities, our team of 4,600 agile technologists thrive in a cloud-native environment that values continuous learning using a data-centric approach in developing innovative technology solutions.
Asset Management Technology is on a multi-year journey to create a best in class platform for managing our clients' money, called Spectrum. We called it Spectrum because it covers the whole range of investment activities from Company Research to Portfolio Management to Trade Processing and Accounting. In 2014 we started a significant program of application rationalization, to remove duplicative capabilities that were a legacy of mergers, acquisitions and regional management. We have made great progress, with an application footprint that is half of where we started, and will be half again by the time we are finished. Our application front ends are converging into a flexible container framework that supports multiple UI technologies with a common user experience and seamless transition between desktop and mobile. The next step in the build out of Spectrum is to ensure we have single golden source data stores for all of our core reference data . Similar to our application footprint, our data footprint has become fragmented over time and now is the time to bring it into a single data platform. This role will own and transform Asset Management's most important data, our global Transaction & Position infrastructure .
The person we are looking for will be passionate about all aspects of data; data architecture, logical and physical data modelling and data quality techniques.
The candidate will need to be familiar with buy-side or sell-side Transaction & Position data from a trading/order management platform, trade/transaction reporting and accounting ledger/sub-ledger data.
Ability to explain the differences between an Investment Book of Record (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Record (ABOR) are key.
Knowledge of Derivatives, Alternatives and Liquidity instruments would be beneficial.
The candidate will need to be a master of change management, demonstrating the ability to sequence and execute data changes across a large organization of 1,000+ application developers.
Work with users on defining use cases, prioritization and governance.
Partnership and collaboration with line of business CTOs, and strong influencing skills will be critical.
As per the rest of the organization, we expect the candidate to be able to work in a DevOps environment and be comfortable with delivering software in an Agile fashion and with a "Cloud first" mindset.
The role will report to the CIO of Asset Management Technology and be the head of a new team, Portfolio Core Technology. We expect the team to grow to about 30 developers in the first year, half sourced from existing teams engaged in Transaction & Position work, and half of the team being new hires. This role will require travel to and collaboration with teams across the major financial centers New York, London and Hong Kong, and major tech hubs in Glasgow, Columbus and Delaware.
As a senior leader in Software Engineering, you will combine your years of proven expertise with a never-ending quest to create innovative technology. You'll lead a highly inspired and inquisitive team of technologists who are already developing and deploying applications to the highest standards. With your deep knowledge of design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming, your team will raise their game even more, meeting your standards, as well as satisfying both business and functional requirements. Your experience in one or more technology domains will help solve complex and mission critical problems, internally and externally. As a constant learner and early adopter, you're already embracing leading-edge technologies and methodologies; your example encourages others to follow suit. In addition to creating solutions with your in-house team, you'll also work alongside our team of technologists from around the world who are just as dedicated as you are.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
Mastery of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
Command of architecture, design and business processes
Keen understanding of financial control and budget management
Expertise in working in partnership with colleagues throughout the firm, and in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
Passion for data architecture, logical and physical data modelling and data quality techniques
Familiar with buy-side or sell-side Transaction & Position data from a trading/order management platform, trade/transaction reporting and accounting ledger/sub-ledger data
Key knowledge of Book of Record (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Record (ABOR)
