The Operations Control Manager within the Asset Wealth Management Ops function is responsible for overseeing the health of the control environment and coordinating with Operations Management to improve the controls when gaps are detected. This position will be responsible for supporting Operations in delivering an effective, consistent and comprehensive controls environment across the team. This person will have the responsibility to guide and direct the efforts of Asset Wealth Management Operations Business Control Officer teams.

This position will also lead the way for Operations to react, respond & organize itself around the changing regulatory environment and in the coordination of relationships with and requests from various constituents. Key partners include the Business, Risk, Audit, Compliance, Controllers, and Oversight & Controls.

Duties:

  • Provide oversight and consultation on potential issues that arise with operations management, risk, compliance and products as necessary

  • Ensure operational practices are in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies and regulations to maintain an effective control environment

  • Manage projects and partner with operations managers in internal and external audits

  • Interface with various internal groups including Business, Oversight & Controls, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal as necessary

  • Develop, implement, oversee and execute Quality Control Program that focuses on key risks and evaluate the effectiveness of mitigating controls

  • Perform management reporting and engage management on appropriate actions

  • Validate and review controls in light of key business projects, business changes and operational events such as Migrations, New Product, On-boarding/Off-boarding and System Implementations

  • Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of Risk Control Self Assessments

  • Perform gatekeeper function for addition of FORCE issues and action plans and closure of completed action plans

  • Ensure that internal and external audit issues are documented and dispositioned in FORCE.

  • Responsible for RCSAs, Errors, Fines and Losses (EF&L), Business Continuity, SOX, Red Events, Breaches/Incidents and Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for the content, consolidation and distribution of monthly Risk and Control reports including RCSAs, EF&Ls, Audit Follow-ups, Controls Testing and Miscellaneous Special Risk and Control Topics.

  • Monitor weekly and monthly production risk metrics

  • Carry out Controls Awareness training for all levels within the Business and Operations team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field. Employer will accept a combination of degrees in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field as meeting the Bachelor's degree requirement

  • Minimum experience required: 10 years of experience in financial controls or related experience

Skills required:

  • Experience with operational risk analysis, process improvement, end-to-end process reviews and process flow mapping

  • Experience performing deep dive reviews to identify process and control gaps. Controls awareness experience

  • Strong knowledge of quality control techniques/procedures

  • Must have excellent analytical skills, in addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills to bring drive, energy and enthusiasm to lead a large and diverse team and collaborate across business areas

  • Proactive control and risk management, addressing gaps in processes and escalating issues to benefit the business and clients in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to successfully influence many different groups and individuals to deliver high quality and timely deliverables

  • Consultative in approach, understanding and anticipating business partner needs and proactively delivering solutions

  • Ability to successfully navigate a complex infrastructure that involves numerous groups and individuals
