Commercial Banking provides comprehensive solutions, including lending and treasury services, to corporations, municipalities, financial institutions and not-for-profit entities with annual revenues generally ranging from $20 million to $2 billion, as well as real estate investors and owners.

Role will be a member of the WLS Risk & Control Team whose primary responsibilities include design and evaluation of Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA) framework for compliance with regulations, documentation and collateral management for Commercial Bank Wholesale Lending Services.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conduct robust risk assessments to identify risks and key internal controls that mitigate identified risks.

  • Design and evaluation of control self-assessments in accordance with established corporate guidelines.

  • Determine effectiveness of controls through end to end process reviews and testing.

  • Maintain test methodology and perform testing of identified key controls. Support business partners to conduct in-depth root cause analysis for issues and assist in the development of remediation plans.

  • Design and execute targeted testing to determine remediation effectiveness.

  • Identify, escalate and report risk events. Work with the appropriate groups to determine control weakness and root cause. Record risk events in the corporate internal tracking system.

  • Prepare Executive level reporting of key metrics, loss events, issues and RCSA testing results.

  • Acting liaison for internal and external audits including compliance related exams.

  • Retrieve and interpret loan documents and other pertinent source documents as necessary to support testing requirements and audit functions.

  • Support business operations by partnering with the business to create best practice solutions and drive process and control enhancements, providing expertise in risk/controls and the development of corrective action plans.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, plus 3- 5 years of external or internal auditing experience or equivalent is required

  • Previous control design and testing experience

  • Expertise in performing robust risk assessments, identifying and designing effective testing of internal controls and performing effective root cause analysis.

  • Expertise with auditing techniques including appropriate sampling, performance of controls testing and documentation required to meet the performance standard.

  • Ability to formulate and clearly document appropriate conclusions on control effectiveness based on testing performed

  • Proven aptitude for making recommendations for improving processes and strengthening controls.

  • Must be able to juggle multiple major initiatives and produce a quality work product.

  • Specific experience in Risk Management, a plus.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Strong familiarity with commercial banking lending operations, regulations and lending related source documents.

  • Certification (CPA or CIA), a plus.

  • Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
