Corporate Finance - Firmwide Financial Control - CIB Financial Control - Derivative FERC - Associate

The Financial Control function is primarily focused on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm’s books and records with an emphasis on general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business. Some of the most common functions and activities that are owned by Financial Controllers are balance sheet reconciliation / certification, balance sheet substantiation and GLRS reporting & governance, inter-entity control & governance, manual accounting / bookings to the GL and operating systems and the month end close process & coordination.

The Financial Control Associate will be required to work closely with the line of business controllers, middle office and operations areas to understand the operational impact of trading strategies and settlement practices for the businesses globally.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with themiddle office to ensure trade bookings agree between front and back officesystems and ultimately the general ledger;

  • Work withvarious areas to research, escalate, and clear cash and settlementexceptions in a timely manner;

  • Work with thebusinesses and financial control to ensure understanding and sign off ofmonthly P&L;

  • Completion ofmonthly GLRS process.

The candidate must be a highly-motivated individual and must be able to handle a high level of complexity in their product coverage, be able to shift focus of task with relative ease and be flexible enough in shifting workload in accordance with changing priorities, and be comfortable dealing with a sometimes stressful and fast-paced trading and month end priority-driven environment.

Skills:

  • Basicunderstanding of securities and derivatives products

  • Comfortliaising with business and risk managers

  • Ability tobuild and maintain partnerships within the various product alignedbusinesses and across other corporate financial, treasury, and accountinggroups

  • Existingrelationships and networks within JPMorgan community an advantage

  • Ability tounderstand business drivers and requirements and influence middle andfront office partners to deliver solutions to business issues and problems

  • Stronganalytical skills: Ability to quickly understand workings of a complex processing system andgeneral ledger systems across the infrastructure and theirinterrelationships and dependencies.

Required Experience:

  • Excellentdesktop/spreadsheet/database skills

  • Excellentorganizational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellentverbal and written communication skills

  • Ability tomulti-task in a constantly changing environment

  • Able tocritically challenge with the goal of identifying control issues

  • 3-5 years experienceperforming investment accounting preferred

  • Bachelor’sdegree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (or equivalent experience)
