Position Summary

The Trust and Estates tax compliance practice within Wealth Management has been outsourced to Deloitte Tax LLP. This open position will report directly to the Tax Technical Lead and will involve frequent interaction with senior management, Deloitte Tax LLP and front office advisors (e.g., Trust officers, bankers, investors, wealth advisors, etc). This position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of relevant federal, state and international laws and the impact to trusts and estates and charitable entities served by the bank

  • Assist the bank’s trust officers and administrators with fiduciary and charitable tax issues

  • Assist the bank’s wealth advisors in the acquisition of new business by collaborating on tax policy and insuring capability and capacity to provide requested services

  • Assist in establishing tax policy as it pertains to trusts & estates and charitable entities to insure compliance with federal, state and international laws and regulations

  • Provide leadership and technical guidance for the bank in the following areas of expertise:1. Federal and state fiduciary income tax 2. Federal and state charitable taxation and regulatory compliance matters4. State income tax withholding; state tax situs; and tax nexus issues5. International tax laws including FATCA and CRS as applicable

  • Juris Doctorate or CPA or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5-8 years’ work experience specializing in trust, estate and charitable tax planning and compliance matters

  • Experience in the Financial Service Industry a plus

  • Strong aptitude to identify and minimize business risk

  • Aptitude toward sharing knowledge by developing and leading training sessions for staff

  • Demonstrated understanding of tax issues of the high and ultra-high net worth client

  • Demonstrated understanding of tax issues pertaining to charitable trusts and foundations

  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving and demanding environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with executive level management
