Subgroups within GTI
This role will be located in the Enterprise Management Services (EMS) team within Core Services. EMS Engineers and provides L3 support for Windows and UNIX Event and Performance Monitoring, Firm wide Event Routing, Monitoring Analytics/Visualization and Distributed Job Scheduling. In particular the successful candidate will be concentrating on engineering the UNIX Event Monitoring Routing Solutions which are based on IBM Tivoli ITM and IBM
Translation of customer requirements into design and implementation plans that are consistent with the organizations strategic direction.
Engineering and architectural development of innovative and robust solutions across GCS and partners.
Ongoing assessment the existing environment with a relentless focus on continuous improvement.
Fielding escalations from the support organization and providing solutions in partnership with the vendors when necessary.
Designing and building monitoring environments on a large scale (10000+ servers)
Strong knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
The ability to write maintainable code in modern interpreted languages (Perl, Python, etc.)
Understanding of modern SDLC principles (Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, etc.).
A proven ability to provide technical/thought leadership, influencing and inspiring both more senior and more junior colleagues.
The ability to communicate at a level commensurate with the audience at hand, be they expert or non-expert.
Knows when to build rather than buy and able to execute in such scenarios.
An inherent understanding of how things should be done and a determination to hold one’s self and one’s peers accountable to such standards.
The desire to not get siloed and to work outside ones immediate area to build strategic solutions that span the rest of CFS and ultimately GCS.
Degree or equivalent in a scientific, computing or other quantitative subject is a plus.
C/C++ or Java programming experience.
Experience with messaging technologies.
Experience with any other tools across the monitoring ecosystem.
Experience of building highly automated monitoring systems.
Interest in or experience with machine learning.
Knowledge of techniques for dealing with very large datasets.
A demonstrable understanding of what adoption of Agile methodologies actually means
