The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
The Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Auto legal team.
The successful candidate will be a skilled deal lawyer with exceptional attention to detail and client-handling capability. They will embrace a leadership role on their matters, and seek out opportunities to develop new skills. They will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence their peers. They will have a sense of humor, an open mind, and a keen intellectual curiosity.
Transactional Practice . Drive transactions with auto manufacturers, fintech companies, and other parties throughout the deal lifecycle, including structuring, negotiating, and drafting complex legal agreements. Provide strategic counsel to Business Development and Partnership clients on legal and other transactional issues.
Product Counsel . Provide strategic, pragmatic, and transparent legal advice and risk mitigation ideas to business clients throughout the development and evolution of products and services. Provide day-to-day counsel to Business Development and Partnership clients.
Thought Leadership . Develop and leverage legal, product, and regulatory subject-matter expertise and an understanding of the auto and auto finance industries, and Chase’s processes, to provide support to Auto clients.
Collaborate with other legal teams and partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues.
Support other special projects as requested
JD or educational equivalent required. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
At least 6 years post-admission experience in a law firm or in-house.
Expertise in counseling clients on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, with experience with federal consumer finance regulations preferred.
Experience working with and an affinity for technology.
Superior negotiation and contract-drafting skills.
Experience with agile teams and technology initiatives.
The ability to foster strong relationships; partnering with other lawyers, control partners, and business people at all levels to drive to the best result.
