JPMorgan Chase CIB - Operations Risk/Control Manager - Global Trade Operations - Executive Director in Tampa, Florida

Operational control and risk management is the foundation to operational excellence. The role of Operations Risk/Control Management (OCM) within the Corporate & Investment Bank is to ensure controls and process disciplines are rigorously maintained and continually enhanced through metrics reporting, risk assessment, control testing, and root cause analysis.

The Operations Risk/Control Executive Director is accountable for internal control practices. The successful candidate will have day-to-day responsibility to manage and influence a team of professionals to support Global Trade operations. The team will help ensure controls are appropriately designed and executed throughout the organization globally, ensure identification, escalation and resolution of operational risk, and provide oversight and sponsorship of selected control initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Providestrategic leadership and matrix / direct management to a team of professionalsacross locations domestically andinternationally.

  • Workdirectly with Senior Operations Executives and staff to ensure an effectivelydesigned control environment exists.

  • Partnerwith Oversight & Controls, Technology Control Officers, Internal Audit,Compliance, external auditors and other key stakeholder groups to ensurecompliance with corporate and regulatory compliance directives.

  • Maintainrelevant Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSA’s) in accordance with firmwide and LOB requirements. In addition to maintenancefunctions, ensure entry, update, and closure of action plans and riskacceptances occur timely.

  • Workon any special compliance and risk-related projects as required bymanagement.

  • ExecuteInternal Risk Reviews to identify risks and assess related controls to ensurethe adequacy of the control environment.

  • Asnecessary, assist with execution of required Sarbanes-Oxleytesting. Document and report results to business and technologymanagement and upstream corporate oversight.

  • Demonstrateinclusive leadership, effectively coach for performance and career developmentand be a role model in the pursuit of excellence across multiple functions andsites.

  • Directlyresponsible for the team performance quality, technical proficiency, andensuring staff is appropriately trained and supported.

Competencies:

  • Knowledgeof Global Trade and Loan Products including Commercial and Standby Letters ofCredit, Export Finance, Trade Loans, Documentary Collections and Supply ChainFinancing.

  • Experiencewith operational risk analysis, process improvement, end-to-end process reviewsand process flow mapping.

  • Experienceexecuting deep dive reviews to identify process and control gaps and identifythe root cause of issues to ensure appropriate controls are enhanced orimplemented to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Understandingof key controls and how they impact the business from an operational,accounting and/or systems perspective.

  • Abilityto identify and assess impact of proposed product, accounting, operational andtechnology/infrastructure changes on the overall control environment.

  • Assessand determine implications of new or changes to regulations on processes andcontrols (e.g., BSA/AML; Sanctions Screening, Privacy, etc).

  • Abilityto effectively influence peers and business partners to achieve objectives.

  • Fosterpartnerships all stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Abilityto identify ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness of work performed andresources utilized.

Minimum education and experiencerequired:

  • Bachelor'sdegree or higher.

  • 10+years’ experience in Audit, Risk Management, Compliance or role requiringsimilar knowledge and expertise.

  • Knowledgeof Global Trade and Loan Products including Commercial and Standby Letters ofCredit, Export Finance, Trade Loans, Documentary Collections and Supply ChainFinancing.

  • Experiencewith operational risk analysis, process improvement, end-to-end process reviewsand process flow mapping.

  • Exceptionalwritten and oral communication skills.

  • Trackrecord in successfully supporting an enterprise of significant scale andcomplexity.

  • Abilityto operate in a highly complex, high-pressure, highly regulated environment insupport of a high risk process.

  • Highlyorganized and detail oriented with the ability to work under pressure withintight deadlines/cut-offs.

  • Individualmust have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.

  • Eagernessand willingness to take initiative, ownership, and accountability for teamperformance.

  • Demonstratedability to develop team members into future leaders. Proven experienceleading global teams across multiple sites and time-zones.
