Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others
This role resides within the Chase Card Services Acquisition Risk Group and is part of a recently established Quality Assurance team that will focus on continuous testing of both judgmental and automated credit decisions within the various Card Services portfolios. As an independent “second line of defense,” function this role will work with senior business owners and other credit risk professionals within Card Risk, as well as Lending Operations, to assess, monitor, report and mitigate credit risk.
This senior analyst will work with his/her peer group and other associates across the card business units, operations groups, judgmental lending, compliance, legal, audit, and technology.
Help drive the quality and effectiveness of risk controls established by business and process owners by independently testing the credit risk of lending decisions made within the first line with a focus on level of risk assumed in relation to risk appetite.
Conduct both random and targeted reviews to provide an independent evaluation of Credit Card and Business Card approved and declined loans to ensure the risk reward balance is properly maintained.
Continually monitor the portfolios to ensure approved risk strategies and are performing as anticipated
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing controls and provide business direction on opportunities for improvement
Provide an independent, objective view of credit risk assessments, mitigation strategies and emerging risks
Actively participate in weekly team application review meetings to ensure the group is providing accurate/consistent/timely feedback to first line business partners
·Assist with projects supporting efforts to continually improve/enhance the Quality Assurance team.
5+ years of financial industry experience
5+ years of judgmental lending experience with both consumer and business lending products
Extensive knowledge of the credit card/business card business and their operational processes
Strong knowledge of risk management and internal control principles
Proven ability to work in a matrixes environment, provide oversight and directly influence change
Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver results
Ability to collaborate with business and functional experts to provide risk assessment guidance, recognize risks and design enhancements
Strong decision making, analytical and creative thinking skills
High level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency
Proven ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Prior experience in a quality control role reviewing consumer and/or business card credit decisions
Broad experience across credit card operating and credit risk areas (lending, servicing, billing, payments, collections)
MBA or a master’s degree in related discipline
Business process management or Six Sigma certification
Experience building Key Risk Indicators and Key Control Indicators
